HOW AUTO-DIMMING MIRRORS WORK
Electrochromic gel is sandwiched between two layers of glass. When the front and back light sensors detect an imbalance in light inputs, an electrical charge is sent through the gel causing it to darken and dim the glass in proportion to the imbalance. This allows you to keep your eyes on the road and hands on the wheel rather than reaching to flip the day/night tab like on traditional mirrors.
HOW TO KNOW IF OUR MIRRORS ARE COMPATIBLE WITH YOUR FACTORY MIRROR MOUNT
All mirrors sold through this site are designed for the universal style wedge mount windshield button used on most vehicles since the late '70s/early '80s. There are a handful of manufacturers (mostly European) and models (like early Hondas, Subarus and some Jeep years/models) that use(d) unique style mounts which are not compatible.
If your windshield mounting button looks like the one in the picture, you're in business! If not, but you're willing to switch over to gluing a universal wedge mount to your windshield, you can request one free of charge with your purchase! Just mention it in the "Order Notes" at checkout.

Yes, it IS possible to get one of these modern mirrors into your classic or restomod! The factory arm that holds the stock mirror was removed and a modern universal wedge mount was glued onto the windshield to allow for the installation of a loaded Gentex mirror.
